IELTS is also known as INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTING SYSTEM. It is one of the major English language tests in the world. IELTS is an examination managed by British council, IDP:IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English and was established in 1989.
The main purpose for this examination is to measure the fluency of the people who look forward to studying or work in a country where English is used as the medium of communication. IELTS is in fact evidence that one is eligible in English language and can work or study in other countries where English is the major language. Countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK as well as USA welcomes students who have IELTS certification.
There are four papers:
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing
- Speaking
And there are two different modules followed as :
- Academic
- General training.
Speaking and Listening tests are the same in both the modules but the Reading and Writing tests are different. Speaking about cut off score which is also known as band is different in every country and it also depends on the individual university of the country. There is no pass and fail in IELTS examination
IELTS is scored on a nine-band scale with the significance of each band.
